Yesterday, Nurse 1 has been proven negative again after the second confirmatory test by the diagnostic centre in kenema. She has been released.
However, another security staff was mentioned to be positive but he has been discharged. The lab staff is with his family in a hidden village where they are treating him for witch craft. The admission of Seven (7) staff and the death of two of them in a spate of two days have created anxiety, concern, fear and panic among staff, Brothers and clients in the hospital. The situation is aggravated by the news that most of the staff have fallen sick and are refusing to come to the hospital for treatment because of fear. Most staff are traumatized by the events unfolding in the hospital and as such the need to take additional decisions to complement earlier measures put in place by Management. Sigue leyendo

El proper dimarts 8 de juliol tindrà lloc a les 13,30h a la sala Newton una sessió informativa extraordinària sobre el brot d’Ebola que està patint actualment Sierra Leone.
La sessió comptarà amb la intervenció de l’Olimpia de la Rosa Vázquez, assessora de salut de la Unitat d’Emergències de Metges sense fronteres- OCBA.

Entre el 15 y el 17 de junio de 2014, se reportaron un total de 31 nuevos casos y 4 nuevas muertes de Kailahun (29 casos y 4 muertes), Kono (1 caso), y Oeste (1 caso). Esto eleva el número total de casos y muertes reportadas desde Sierra Leona a 97 (92 confirmados, 3 probables y 2 sospechosos) y 49 muertes.

I write to inform you all about my new assignment and introduce my Successor. As you might have known, after the Provincial Chapter in May, 2014, a restructuring system of the province was adopted by the brothers and co-workers of the province to which, some changes to suit the present needs of the mission were exhibited. It was based on this that I moved to a new Mission: St. John of God Community Health Centre-Lungi Sierra Leone as soon as possible while Br. Michael M. Koroma assumes the responsibilities as the Chairman of The Management Advisory Board and in Charge of the Mission’s Activities in Sierra Leone. He will be based in Lunsar. Sigue leyendo
