It was on the afternoon of Wednesday, 13th February, 2019, at about 1 pm when staff of the Nursing school saw a ‘Tsunami’ of bush fire approaching the nursing school students hostel when the students staying in their rooms were all called out of the hostel rooms.

The Fire was so aggressive that no body understood where was the origin of the fire and there were no technological means to put it off. Students, staff of the hospital and school, neighbours all joined to collect sand, water and tree branches to quench the aggressive fire that engulfed the two students hostels on that afternoon between 1 -3 pm. A call for help was made to the Sierra Leone Mining Company in Lunsar whose staff was dispatched to come to our aid. See photos.

We are calling on generous benefactors to support the school to acquire fire extinguishers and set up fire prevention structures in the school so as to affront future fire. We need help to build a mini fence around the school. It is alleged that the fire developed as a result of the indiscriminate unfinished cigarette jot from passer’s by on the high way road.

I also agree with the first point to clear the bush surrounding the hostel area.
For the second point, it is huge investment but it is necessary to improve security for the assets and lives of people.
